Welcome to the Energy Employee Welfare Fund
A Brief History of the fund
The welfare fund commenced operations in 1961 at a cost of 6 pence per week.
In the early 1960’s the forefathers of this fund decided to purchase land at Port Macquarie with the view of building one block of four units with affordable accommodation for members and their families. One unit was set aside for the purpose of convalescence.
Units 1 to 4 were built and occupied in 1972 at a cost of less than $40, 000. These units were so popular that it was decided that another block be built and in 1978 Units five to eight were built at a cost less than $100,000.
There have been constant improvements over the years to maintain the high standard. The original concept has not changed; we are still attempting to provide quality accommodation in comfortable surroundings at a realistic price.
Port Macquarie was chosen because of it’s ideal location, approx 5 hrs from Sydney and it’s warm climate. The yearly average is 22 degrees.
We have 5 units available for members to book from. Please see the availability here.
